About this Course
This course is the industry recognised higher education qualification for trainees and practising building professionals in quantity surveying, building surveying, estimating, project planning, design and site management.
The HNC Diploma will be completed in two years and attendance is one day per week for 34 weeks per year. You may then have the opportunity to continue for a further year to complete the HND.
Course Summary
The delivery of the HNC adopts a modern approach by utilising Building Information Modelling (BIM) techniques throughout the programme. The units covered are:
Year one: Design principles and application CAD, IT and BIM Construction and maintenance Measurement, tendering and estimating Year two: Science and materials Group project Health and safety Building services

Entry requirements
A full Level 3 academic qualification or you must be aged over 21 and working in an appropriate job/role in the construction industry.
If progressing from a National Certificate/ Diploma then an overall Pass is required.
Applicants with extensive construction experience may also be considered for the HNC Diploma.
Applicants with a recent Level 3 craft qualification should successfully pass the Access to HE: Construction qualification first (see in page 35).
Applicants will be working in the construction industry or wishing to progress into construction management or a related profession.
All applicants will be interviewed by the course leader.

What you can progress to
After successfully completing the course, learners may continue their studies towards full membership of a relevant professional body, or they may progress on to a HND or degree. The HNC can also be used to provide the knowledge requirements for specific construction related advanced apprenticeships as well.
