This MSc has been developed in response to the rapid growth and demand in the highways and transportation industry; both in the UK and overseas. The course will form the basis for ‘Further Learning’ for those graduates with a civil engineering degree (or equivalent) seeking professional qualification as a Chartered Engineer. It provides topical and industry-focused postgraduate education to enhance career opportunities in highways and transportation engineering. Accreditation for this course is being sought from the Joint Board of Moderators (JBM) for the 2016 intake. The course has been designed for full time or part time study by the use of ‘one-week blocks’ of teaching.

"Entry Requirements Applicants are normally expected to hold a 2.2 honours degree in Civil Engineering.
Holders of a CEng accredited Bachelor’s degree can enrol on the course provided they meet the entry requirements. This will automatically meet the educational base for Chartered Engineer status.

The assessment strategy for this MSc has been guided by the Geological Society of London accreditation programme, which seeks comprehensive evidence for the developing, attainment and assessment of subject specific skillset. Within the programme of study numerous innovative assessment techniques, both formative and summative, will be used including: continuous assessment through portfolios, field and laboratory notebooks, field mapping, complex 3D spatial analysis, and industrial-style integrated data analysis and reporting.
