Is this course for you
The Level 1 Certificate in Horticultural Skills is a practical qualification and is suitable if you are looking for a progression route into Horticulture at Level 2 or a change in career. There is a lot of practical work involved in the course delivery, and you will have an opportunity to practice the new skills you are learning.

What will you study
Units such as: Prepare Ground for Seeding or Planting * Plant container grown subjects: Prune Hedges by Hand * Maintain Paved Areas * Aerate Turf by Hand * Edge Turf with Shears * Lay Turf by Hand * Sow Grass Seed by Hand * Use Wheeled Rotary Mower * Use Nylon Cord Strimmer. There are many different units to choose.

How will you be assessed
Your assessor will watch you demonstrate your new skills at intervals throughout the course. This will be backed up by some written work to check your understanding.

What can you do after course
Progression onto Level 2 BTEC First Diploma in Horticulture.
