Course programme

This course will provide you with an introduction to the process of designing for hotel interiors. With increasing growth in the hospitality design sector - currently employing almost 10% of the UK workforce - there is now high demand from hotel operators to present trendy, updated commercial interiors.

Through a series of practical exercises, combined with lectures, guest speakers and an off-site visit, you will gain an initial overview of all aspects of hotel design, including designing for communal areas and understanding room typologies. You will consider how to specify products in hotel design, including customising unique products. As well as gaining an overview of the supply chain and other areas such as sustainability, energy saving, budgets and deadlines.

You will have the opportunity to explore design techniques applicable to a wide range of diverse commercial interior design projects, with a particular focus on the guest room. This is a dynamic course where you will gain an invaluable insight into current industry practice, including how to become part of a creative hotel design team, as well as being introduced to the latest materials and trends.
