Course Description
Provides a GCSE science qualification, offered at Foundation or Higher Tier. Students are introduced to scientific ideas and concepts, developing investigative, maths and IT skills where appropriate.Topics studied include hygiene and healthy living, infectious disease, interactions with the environment, cell structure and function, human body systems, reproduction and genetics.

Entry Requirements
4 GCSEs Grade D, incl. English. (Maths D for some courses). Or Pass in Level 1 Vocational Qual., Merit for BTECs, plus Key Skills Level 1 Comm. (App. of Number for some courses) or equivalent. Diplomas require Functional Skills in ICT, Maths and English.

Attendance Modes: Day

Assessment: 80% of assessment -Terminal examination in June: 2 hours. 20% of assessment - Cousework completed during the year - scientific investigation.

Progression Routes: Provides a GCSE science qualification, suitable for progression to AS biology/human biology. Appropriate GCSE in science for teaching certificate, etc.
