Course Description
These programmes reflect the development needs of middle managers and share common features with the -Skills for Managers- programme to ensure consistency and coherence. They aim to assist participants in gaining the knowledge required by a middle manager, and to further develop management skills. They are delivered by trainers who have experience of management in practice.
The Award in Management at Level 4 is designed to provide participants with a foundation for their formal development and provides a bridge between the study requirements of First Line Management (level 3) and Team Leading (level 2) and the more rigorous demands of programmes at level 5.

Assessment
There is no formal examination for this course. Assessment is achieved through practically based activities designed to enable participants to demonstrate understanding of the topics and their ability to apply the knowledge into relevant activity. This will include work based projects and reflective reviews.

Entry Requirement
There are no formal entry requirements, but participants will normally have a job role that involves significant management of people (either directly or via supervisors) to allow them the opportunity to meet the assessment demands, and have a background that will enable them to benefit from the programme. Accordingly, a telephone interview will be required to ensure that these programmes are appropriate for potential delegates.A basic understanding of literacy and numeracy is also required; appropriate support and assistance is available.
Participants may join the level 4 or 5 programme directly, although we strongly recommend that candidates undertake the level 4 programme before commencing a level 5 programme (credit will be given for common unit already successfully completed).
