ILM - Certificate in Dental Treatment Coordinator

Course review:

This ILM endorsed course is aimed at GDC registered dental professionals to learn and develop skills in this treatment co ordinator role within a dental practice environment.

The course is tutor led over two days in a classroom environment and formative assessments are used at the end of each module

Summative assessment at the end of the course is gained from a Personal Experience Portfolio (PEP) which is signed off in the workplace by a suitably qualified Dental professional once competency has been developed and achieved certification can be issued.

Course Aim
To provide the learner with skills, information and the knowledge to perform the treatment co-ordinator role professionally, effectively in a dental practice environment and within the remit of all current dental regulations

Course Objectives
At the end of this course the learner will be able to:
•Work with patients legally and ethically
•Effectively offer and discuss treatment plans to patients on a prescription of a dentist
•Use resources effectively in the workplace
•Understand sales and apply the principle in the dental workplace
•Plan and monitor the treatment co ordinator work load
•Maintain workplace records and information systems in the dental environment

Eligibility criteria
•Current GDC certificate
•Currently employed as dental nurse
•Agreed support from a suitably qualified GDC registered professional
•CRB certificate
•Current certificate in Medical Emergencies
•Current certificate in Cross Infection Control

*Copies of the relevant certificates will be required before course commences

Course structure
This course is delivered over two days in a classroom environment, these days are scheduled 8 weeks apart giving time for the Personal Experience Record (PEP) to be completed during this period.
This course attracts 18 hours of verified CPD hours.
