Course programme

Course review:

For people who have done a little French already, this is an improvers course. You would be joining a cheerful, relaxed and friendly group of adult learners who started (or in some cases re-started) French two years ago. We focus on the up to date language as you will hear it in the shops, cafes and out and about in France. The classes and optional out-of class work is exclusively to do with speaking and listening and we approach the written language only when it is helpful or needed for note-taking. Grammar will be explained in very small chunks on a "need-to-know" basis, in other words when it helps to explain something that will make speaking easier for you. This is essentially a "spoken language" class where nothing is taken too seriously, mistakes are all part of the fun, and you can enjoy yourself while learning the language. Emphasis is on practice, practice practice, and we will go back over things regularly, so that you are able to actually use the French that you learn without having to think too hard before you open your mouth!

So far we have covered greetings, saying hello, everyday chitchat, asking and talking about basic personal things like family, where you live, ages, telling the time, buying basic items in shops and at the market, and how to deal with money in euros and talking about things you have done in the past (past tense). However do not worry if you are unfamiliar with any of these, as we regularly revisit topics.
