Course programme

Do you want to study at a British University or in a Higher Educational Institute? Do you want to be able to communicate competently and competitively in an environment where English is used? If the answer is yes, the Avalon IELTS course can take you there.

The IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is for students who intend to study at university in the UK. Performance is assessed on four modules, Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing.

For years Avalon has helped hundreds of students achieve high IELTS scores enabling them to confidently undertake higher education studies in English. The course gives students a solid grounding in all the key areas required to successfully pass the exam. Not only are the necessary skills required to pass the exam covered on the course but students are also taught all the study skills they will need at university.

What will I learn on the course?

  • Academic language
  • Accurate speaking and writing
  • Core grammar and vocabulary
  • Structured writing
  • Exam techniques
  • The lessons run every weekday for two hours in morning, afternoon and evening sessions. As the course is continuous students can join on any day throughout the year and choose how long they want to study for. For students who are below upper-intermediate level, we would recommend students first take the IELTS Foundation course to prepare them for the exam course. The recommended length of study is 12 – 14 weeks but depends on the student’s level when starting the course.

The IELTS exam can be taken every month and students can either apply for the exam themselves or the school can arrange an exam date for them. You can study on the course even if you do not plan to take the exam but just want to improve your English.

Students will be required to pass a written test before entering onto the IELTS course.
