Ana is a Senior Regulatory Advisor and joined Leatherhead Food Research in May 2012. She covers the Portuguese speaking markets (Portugal and Brazil), as well US and EU food legislation. She has extensive knowledge on how to convert US formulations and labelling to EU compliance products. She graduated from Catholic University of Portugal in Microbiology. She has Master Degree (MSc) in Quality management from Polytechnic University of Madrid. Before joining the team at Leatherhead, Ana worked as a quality system consultant.

Mariko has comprehensive knowledge in food legislation in several international markets including Australia, India, Japan and other countries in the Far East. She has a wide knowledge food information and carry out label and formulation comparison across several regions. She has a project management qualification and co-ordinates major multi-county projects on different regulatory subjects. She is fluent in Japanese and German. Mariko joined Leatherhead Food Research in April 2009 and has a Bachelors degree in Public Health Nutrition awarded by Oxford Brookes University.

Sukh Gill is a statutorily qualified Trading Standards Professional and business law graduate. A 25-year career in Public and Private Sectors has given Sukh a high-level understanding of business regulation. He has worked as a Trading Standards Officer for a UK enforcement authority. Latterly, his role has been about achieving compliance for businesses as a Trading Standards Manager for Safeway Stores plc (1996-2004) and as Chief Regulatory Advisor (Food & Consumer Law) to the Müller Group (2004-2012). He has been a representative on various expert working groups.

You will be provided with an overview of the requirements for food supplements at EU level, including compositional requirements, permissibility of additives, vitamins and mineral sources and usage. Differences to US dietary supplements will be pointed out.

Authority Partnerships and Mutual Recognition in the EU

Such partnerships enable food business operators to receive “assured advice” providing them with confidence that their trading practices are legal.
