An interpreter, understood as a foreign language expert, is a person who, unlike a translator, translates orally (or by means of signs in the case of sign languages) from a source language into a target language. Interpretation is characterized not only by the evanescence of the oral language, but also by mimicry, gestures, good knowledge of rhetoric, fluency and understanding of the spoken language. The work of the interpreter is required in all those cases in which the speaker (the speaker) and the listener (the target audience) use different languages: in order to understand each other you need someone who knows both languages at a deep enough level to be able to translate and replicate the speech from one language to another. The interpreter listens to the source language, understands every word and syntactic structure of the speech, interprets its meaning and translates it into an equivalent speech in the target language, respecting not only the literal meaning, but also the nuances rendered by the intonation. For this reason, interpreters are usually specialized in two or three languages and in a few specific sectors, such as fashion, medicine, electronics, the legal or judicial field. In this way they can have more in-depth linguistic skills, and a more complete and specialized lexical repertoire.
