This brand new introductory course will inspire you to observe nature in close detail.
We will be using vibrant flora and fauna as our subject matter making close observational studies in conjunction with experimental colourful studies on different scales, textures and different 2D drawing / painting materials.

About this course

Have an introduction to using different drawing / painting materials to represent nature.
Be able to colour mix and make different textures and mark.making with paints and drawing materials.
Have an introduction to render flora and fauna in vibrant colour, different mediums and different time scales.

Course programme

We will cover colour mixing both primary, secondary and tertiary with watercolours, acrylics, oil and soft pastels plus coloured pencils.
We will look at whole forms of flora and fauna plus elaborating on details to form multitextured images both representational and semi abstract.
We will be introduced to preparing different surfaces to work on plus use different painting/drawing materials in conjunction with each other to make images within a colourful, textural way.
We will be introduced painting / drawing nature in different time scales, i.e. quick sketches plus longer more sustained images.
