You will be introduced to fused glass and learn specific techniques and skills. You will work with coloured glass, frits and powders; texture in your work; specialist products including dichroics, bubble frits, glowglass; confetti, stringers; preparing moulds for slumping; cold working techniques. You will work through a series of technical exercises and produce samples for each technical area that is covered. On the final afternoon, you will make a single larger piece of work to which you can apply all the skills and knowledge you have learned in the first day and a half of the course. Suitable for: This course is aimed at people who have very limited or no experience of working with fused glass. If you have worked with glass in other ways eg stained glass, then this will give you a slight advantage on the course but you will still learn a whole new set of skills. For those completely new to glass you will be introduced to the wonderful world of glass. With a maximum class size of 4 people, there is some flexibility to adjust the course according to the previous experience of the student. This class is currently run on request only with a minimum class size of 2.
About this course
No previous experience with glass is required. If you already have some experience of glass fusing, you will still benefit from this course - a number of my students have attended other courses but have still learned a great deal from attending this course.

You will go away with lots of samples of different techniques and on the second day you will have the opportunity to put together all the knowledge that you have learned to produce a larger creative piece.
