Course programme

Course review:

By far the most popular course I teach!

Ideal for complete beginners as well as those that have some knowlege of photography.

If you don't have a suitable camera, I can lend you a Digital SLR for the day free of charge!

The course runs from 10.00am until 4.00pm with a break for lunch (included).

A digital SLR, whilst technically capable of taking much better photographs than any of the pocket cameras out there, is wasted if you leave it in the fully automatic setting - which unfortunately is what most people do!

Most camera manuals seem very daunting and there's a lot of imformation to take in.

Consider the Introduction to Photography course that I offer as this:

Your camera manual, stripped of all the technical blurb, selecting the most important bits that will help you see instant improvements, then converting it into a 1-day, easy to understand course where you spend most of the day actually using the camera, learning and then applying what you learn with the ability to have questions answered.

But the course is much more than this. Not only will you finish the course technically able to take a correctly exposed photograph regardless of the circumstances in fully manual mode (YES LIKE A PROFESSIONAL!) but you will also look at the subjects you photograph in a different way thus improving the overally quality of your photography.

The course includes the following:

  • Introduction to & getting to know your camera
  • Camera menu
  • Setting up your camera
  • The accessories available to you
  • The tripod & its uses
  • Shutter speeds and their effects on an image
  • Aperture and their creative uses
  • ISO and its uses
  • "The photographic triangle"
  • Some time out of the studio putting what you're learned into practice
  • Transfer to and basic image editing on the pc
  • Re-cap of the course
