Course Overview
This ten week short course aims to instruct aspiring new writers in aspects of playwriting. The course is designed for those people who have little or no experience in writing for the stage.
The programme allows students to gain critical feedback from their tutor and classmates in a supportive and relaxed environment. It also aims to teach students about methods of getting work published and performed.
Course Structure
The course covers:
- Dramatic dialogue
- Character development
- Plot
- Stage directions and layouts
- Structure
- The successful playwright.
- Research methods
- The writing business.
These workshops are designed so new writers can develop their own short play outside of the sessions for critical feedback each week.
Qualification Aims
Students who complete course will receive a College Certificate of Achievement. Although no formal qualification is gained, students will have produced a short play that can be submitted for competitions and theatre companies.
Assessments/Examinations
Continuous assessment and feedback are given. There is no formal examination.
