As noted by professional bodies, working at an advanced practice level is more than just undertaking expert practice. Advanced practice accreditation by professional bodies will require individuals to provide evidence of a range of skills and attributes such as those indicated within the Learning and Development Framework for Clinical Imaging and Oncology (SOR, 2007) in relation to four core functions.These core functions are expert practice, professional leadership and consultancy (including working across boundaries), education, training and development and practice and service development.This module is designed to provide you with an opportunity to consider a range of issues relating to these core functions. You will be required to consider issues around two of the four core functions.The aim of the module is to provide you with an opportunity to identify your specific professional development needs in working towards advanced practice status. Any applicant with non-standard qualifications may apply subject to confirmation that their qualifications are acceptable and equivalent to an Honours degree in radiography from a UK university.Normally applicants should have a minimum of two years clinical experience in their clinical specialty (e.g. radiotherapy/diagnostic imaging) before starting the module and should continue in clinical practice whilst undertaking the module.
