An opportunity to discover or find out more about Natalia Ginzburg, Oriana Fallaci and Elena Ferrante, three important writers who, together, cover the period from the post-war years to the present day. Their work focus on female characters, albeit to a varying degree, thus reflecting and documenting the changes that occurred in contemporary Italian society.

Extracts will be provided by the tutor on the day. Bring writing material if you wish to take notes.

Course programme
We will talk about the events that affected the lives of the writers and, through readings of extracts from their texts, we will consider how the role of women has evolved in the Italian society. We will also look at some of the other themes presented in their books as well as the controversies that have surrounded them.
The session will consist of a mixture of lecture, reading of the text, discussion and group work.Additional information
