Course programme

Course Content:
This course is aimed at hand knitters who are interested in expanding their skills to create their own designs. Learning the practical side of knitting and combining it with creative design elements such as yarn, colour and shape to achieve a unique garment.

During the 3 days you will learn the following skills:

• Creating trend/colour boards using Pintrest and WGSN
• Illustrating your ideas as technical flat drawings as well as sketches.
• Understand the different qualities of various yarns and how to use them for maximum effects.
• Knitting tension swatches. Understanding how this relates to the gauge of the garment.
• Creating a technical pack, including specifications and graph.

By the end of the course you will have:

• Learnt how to produced your own hand knitted garment.
• The technical skills to continue to create your designs.
• Made contacts with other knitters in the area.
• Technical knowledge of yarns and materials.
