Course programme

One of the best courses we offer - most sailors can still remember their first steps afloat in a dinghy and the River Exe is a great place to learn. Taken over the weekend or 2 days during the week, this 2 day course is spent with your instructor within the boat and our tuition ratios are normally 2:1. The first day involves rigging, going about, sailing upwind, points of sail and basic rules. Following a re-cap the second day we go through sailing down wind, gybing, and then after lunch we are normally ready for your first solo sail. With the instructor coaching from a safety boat, this session is followed by a de-brief and certification. It is recommended that this course is followed by a 3 day RYA Level 2 course.

Dates: Anytime from April-End of Oct providing we have a minimum of 2 people.

Course times
All courses start at 10am , so please arrive at edge by at least 9:45 to sort out any payment, booking forms or to pick up any course literature. Car parking is available and all remaining fees are due on the first morning of the course. The end of the day is 5pm and please ensure that all children are collected on time. Price includes log books and certificates.

Lunch can be purchased locally however during the summer courses it is best to bring a packed lunch since we are often away from the centre at one of the special beaches/ sand banks.
