Introduction
The course will allow candidates to gain the knowledge and skills required to assist with planning, preparing and delivering a safe and effective activity session for a group of participants.
The Active IQ Certificate in Activity Leadership is at level 1 on the on the National Qualifications Framework.

Objectives:
- To provide a basic understanding of how to promote safety during activity sessions, identify and deal with hazards and reduce risks in the activity environment
- To provide an overview of the links between activity, health and fitness
- To enable candidates to assist with planning and preparing an activity session plan
- To provide candidates with basic skills in assisting with the delivery of a safe and effective activity session
Qualification Structure and Unit Content
This qualification comprises two units, namely:
Unit 1 – Assist with Planning and Preparing an Activity Session
- Assessed session plan
Unit 2 – Assist in Delivering an Activity Session
- Observation of candidate assisting with leading an activity session
