Foundation Learning Tier - One-year course
This course offers students the opportunity to develop knowledge of the business environment, and life skills to help them into suitable employment at the end of the course or progression within the learning framework.

The course encompasses a wide range of disciplines and will help develop the student's knowledge and understanding of today's modern business environment. In addition, the course offers a broad introduction to vocational qualifications and develops personal skills and attributes that students need in order to develop confidence in their ability to work, learn and achieve their full potential.

The course is ideal for those who have a keen interest in business, retailing or administration and wish to study a course that has relevance to their own lives.

All units are portfolio-based. Assessment will take the form of a variety of formats including report writing, posters, presentations, formal short tests, role play and successful completion of a work experience placement.

Lessons will make full use of independent learning facilities, guest speakers and visits to industry, where appropriate. Students will go on work experience for a period of at least two weeks during the year.

Careers and Further Studies
Students will develop a good foundation knowledge of business, and with a Merit grade could progress to a BTEC First Diploma.
