Health and Social Care
Foundation Learning Tier - One-year course
This course is designed for students who are interested in caring for others and working with people. It aims to help students develop their personal and social skills and to prepare them for work or further study. It is suitable for students who want to work in childcare, or in health or social care.

A range of topics will be studied such as:
  • Rights and responsibilities at work
  • Managing your health at work
  • Preparing for and learning from work placement
  • Creative activities for children and adults
  • Promoting healthy eating
  • Communication

The course is entirely coursework-based. Students will work individually and in groups to produce reports, posters and other written work.

They will take part in practical activities and meet visiting speakers. Students will be offered suitable work experience in a care setting.

Careers and Further Studies
Students can consider a range of employment opportunities, including working with children or older people. Students who achieve at least a Merit grade on this course could progress on to either of the related BTEC First Diploma courses at SEEVIC:
