2. Course description Early years education and care is an interesting and enjoyable sector to be part of. During this course you will cover units designed to give you a good grounding in the principles of looking after children and supporting their development. 3. Entry requirements You'll need to be aged 19+ and volunteering for a minimum of 12 hours per week in a childcare setting working with children aged 0 to 19. You'll also need English and maths at Level 1, references and to undergo an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. A Childcare Foundation Learning Programme at Merit is preferable but not essential. 4. Equipment required No equipment required 5. Assessment method Assignment tasks, direct observation at placement and a portfolio of work.
