SIA CCTV Public Surveillance Course (PSS) is a qualification that enable a person to apply for a CCTV Public Surveillance badge/licence to SIA Home Office. It is a legal requirement to obtain the SIA CCTV Licence which enables you to work as a CCTV operator in the UK. CCTV Operators usually work in a control room which is connected to a wide array of camera footage. Employers typically include security companies, super markets, Offices, medium-large corporations, local councils etc. This qualification is for anyone wishing to be employed as a CCTV operator.

To get one of the qualifications linked to Public Space Surveillance (CCTV) licensing you will need to attend a training course and pass the exam. (Minimum 27 hrs Class is required by SIA for this course- without completion of 27 hrs your certificate may be invalidated). The course will be delivered in 3 days. We run this course every week and at the end of the course there will be an examination. Unit 2: Working as a CCTV Operator within the Private Security Industry:

  • Chapter 1: Understand the roles and responsibilities of the CCTV operator and other CCTV staff
  • Chapter 2: Understand CCTV codes of practice, operational procedures and guidelines
  • Chapter 3: Understand relevant legislation and how it impacts on CCTV operations
  • Chapter 4: Understand the importance of communication within CCTV operations

Course Assessment:

Level 2 CCTV course exam consists multiple questions for unit 1 and 2 and Practical Assessment for Unit 3.
