Level 2 Sport Performance

Sport (Performance)
BTEC First Diploma - One-year course
The course consists of both practical and theory modules. Students will be assessed practically upon two key sports and
theoretically over five units. All students within this course will also study a combination of CSLA and YMCA.

Within the theory element of the course, students will receive a high number of assignments in which they will have to display knowledge of the subject area. The theory areas are varied and include six units of work:

• The Body in Sport
• Practical Sport
• Health, Safety and Injury
• Psychology for Sport
• Nutrition for Sport
• Fitness for Sport

All students will have to undertake individual research to supplement the learning from lessons. They have the opportunity to discover new ways of finding and using research within their assignments and applying this to a sports setting.

Careers and Further Studies
After this one-year course, students can progress to the BTEC National Diplomas in Sport at SEEVIC College, as long as they gain a Merit profile.

General Entry Requirements
At least two GCSEs at grade D or above or a BTEC Introductory Diploma (or equivalent) in a related area at Merit level.
