You will work towards an NVQ 3 in Retail. The retail Apprenticeship is made up of three main components:
Employment:- A formal programme which will include: an induction, so you know exactly what is expected of you; an initial assessment, to find out what you know already and what you need to learn; knowledge sessions, to bring your experiences and learning to life; regular 1:1 to discuss how you are progressing and setting targets.
Qualifications:- At the initial level you will cover customer service, selling and product knowledge, merchandise handling, storage and display.
You will also maintain health and safety in the workplace and keep the workplace secure and help to prevent theft and loss. At the advanced level you would cover the managing of customer service, merchandising and sales, stock management, team management and developing people.

About this course
The majority of the qualification will be completed in the workplace. Some College attendance may be required to complete the Technical Certificate and Functional Skills. Dates and times will be confirmed on entry to the Apprenticeship. The duration of the programme would range between 12 and 24 months depending on the level undertaken.

Course programme
Job roles include work as: Senior sales assistant, craft experts (coaching, supervising, style advisors, personal shoppers), any retail supervisor, team leader, department or store manager.
With an Advanced Apprenticeship you will achieve a certificate demonstrating your competence at Diploma level in Retail (Sales Professional/Management/ Visual Merchandising) and knowledge based Certificate in Retail Knowledge. You will also have completed the Employment Rights and Responsibilities certificate along with Functional Skills.
You will learn through a mixture of lectures, practical sessions, group work, work-related activities and independent study and research. You will be taught in well-equipped general classrooms with the latest learning technology. Assessment is on a continuous basis with a number of assessments in each module. Assessments take a variety of forms such as written reports, essays, designing a product, presentations, running an event and group projects. There are timed examinations in some modules.
