Care, Health and Early Learning - Childcare
Level 3 Award/Certificate/Diploma in Childcare & Education (Full Time) - Formerly the DCE(2010/2011)
Study Method:
There are various methods on this course including classroom sessions, independent study, practical and creative work.
Practical work placements must be passed and are are essential to the programme ,these will be completed throughout the entire 2 years of study.
Duration :Two-year course.
Who the Course is For:
This is a new Award (which replaces the CACHE DCE/NNEB Diploma) is an essential qualification for those considering a career working with children in Early Years (birth to 16 years).

Assessment:
The course is continually assessed throughout the two years and students are expected to produce portfolios or assignments for some units. External assessments are set for 3 of the units.
In the practical placements students are required to complete planning sheets on a weekly basis and complete reflective diary reports. Students must pass all the practice evidence records which will be completed by each placement supervisor.
Course Leads To:
A rewarding career in a wide range of childcare establishments. Childcare provision is increasing and the need for well qualified staff in a variety of establishments is essential.
This programme also gives UCAS points to enable candidates to progress onto higher education.

Content:

The combination of placement ensures that you gain experience with children from 0-16 years of age.
The CACHE Diploma is equivalent to an NVQ Level III in Childcare and Education or A level study. Therefore, the academic work is of high standard and can be challenging. The syllabus includes child development, theory of play and curriculum, health and safety and childhood health issues and social, family and community issues and creeative studies.
Students are also required to study Communication key skills alongside this programme.
