Course programme

Music Technology (Recording)
BTEC National Award - Two-year course
This is a two-year programme that can be taken in place of one A Level. Students must commit to this course for two years in order to achieve a qualification.

Only one Award per A Level programme can be taken.

These courses are aimed specifically at those with a strong interest in the music industry, who are aspiring musicians or recording engineers. The BTEC National Award is the equivalent of one A Level. It consists of six modular units studied over the two years and would be taken as part of an A Level programme.

It is anticipated that in order to maximise access to the recording studio, students may be required to attend one twilight session per week in addition to daytime study.

As part of the BTEC National Award course there will be opportunities to use excellent facilities and to participate in workshops at local recording studios; opportunities which can often lead to part-time employment.

Careers and Further Studies
Successful completion of two years study will be recognised with a BTEC Award in Music Technology. This will facilitate progression to Higher Education or a smooth transition to employment within the Music Industry. This course can be combined with AS/A2 Level Music and/or Music Technology for suitably qualified applicants.

General Entry Requirements
These qualifications will normally be taken as part of an A Level programme. Students may only take one BTEC National Award in place of one A Level.
