With the ever increasing prevalence of obesity and the associated health risks there has never been a better time to study the concepts of good nutrition and pass this onto your clients. This course is intended to give you a great foundation based upon nationally recognised and credible evidence and facts which will enable you to make informed decisions and give advice on the nutritional requirements of your clients. Following this course you will be able to perform nutritional analysis and offer nutritional advice to your clients, informing them of healthy eating practises and assisting in their weight management.
Delivery
This course is delivered over 3 days face to face with a series of lectures and all course materials will be sent to you in advance to allow you to commence study prior to attendance. The course as on all of our courses will be delivered by current practitioners from the field of exercise and health and as such will give you a great insight into opportunities available after your course and how your knowledge can be used to greatest effect. During the course you will complete part of your case study and be given all the information you will require to prepare you for your examination and case study submission. This course forms part of the level 3 Personal Training qualification and can be used as part of your Continuing Professional Development to maintain your REPS status.
Content
Whilst on this course you will study the key concepts of nutrition required to ensure you offer sound nutritional and dietary advice to your clients. More and more opportunities are opening up in the area of weight management and this course will help you to understand the main scientific principles and facts and cut through all the confusion. The knowledge gained will help you to really understand exactly what your clients need to know and what you should be advising them on. The course explores the main concepts of diet and nutrition so you can put together sound nutritional plans to really help your clients achieve their weight loss goals. You will learn how to collect and analyse your clients diets and more importantly how to calculate their day to day nutritional requirements.
Qualification Structure
There are nine learning outcomes to this unit. The learner will be able to:
1. Understand the principles of nutrition
2. Understand key guidelines in relation to nutrition
3. Understand nationally recommended practice in relation to providing nutritional advice
4. Understand the relationship between nutrition and physical activity
5. Understand how to collect information relating to nutrition
6. Understand how to use nutritional information
7. Understand the principles of nutritional goal setting with clients
8. Be able to collect and analyse nutritional information
9. Be able to apply the principles of nutrition to a physical activity programme
Course assessment format
The course will consist of one weekend of lectures and followed by a Multiple Choice Examination and submission of a case study. The attendance dates will allow you to carefully plan for your case study whilst giving you all the necessary knowledge to allow you to take the examination on the assessment day.
