Course information:
Level 4 Care Award


Course summary:
The Level Four Care Award at South Tyneside College is an Edexcel validated programme, which spans approx 16 weeks (an academic term). Completion time may be reduced if students have certified units, which can be accredited against requirements.

Course content:
There are eight units which make up the award, four core which are mandatory and four optional.
The college offers a variety of different approaches to enable candidates to achieve the award.
Assignments are available which give step by step guidance to evidence generation and which enable the candidate to work on their own. The assignments group units together so that candidates may achieve more than one unit at a time.
The units which make up the South Tyneside college programme have been selected as they are tasks which care workers undertake regularly. (Candidates however can select any optional units that best suit their individual work setting.)

Course structure:
The tutors will visit the workplace to assess the candidate.
If agencies require a number of staff to attend, it is possible to present the programme on an outreach basis.

Qualifications achieved:
NVQ in Registered Manager (Adults)

Free study and financial support:
Many part-time students at South Tyneside College do not have to pay for their course. We may also be able to help you with some of the extra costs associated with college, eg travel, childcare, equipment, books etc. In addition, depending on the course and the number of hours a week you study, you may be eligible for an Adult Learners†Grant. Please ask us about free study and financial support when you apply.
