3. Entry requirements Qualifications You must hold level 3 or equivalent in the subject matter you are teaching. All candidates applying for the programmes must have evidence of English and maths qualifications at Level 2 (GCSE/O-Level/CSE grade 1/Functional Skills).  Personal skills Candidates are required to demonstrate personal skills at Level 3 in English. These personal skills are assessed, as part of the application process, by a timed assessment and interview. You will also be expected to have good IT skills and be familiar with word processing and presentation software.  Mentors Each candidate on the course is required to have a mentor. Prior to the start of the course, candidates will need to provide the name and contact details of a senior/experienced professional in their organisation who can act as their subject specialist mentor for the duration of the course. The purpose of the mentor is to support the development of the subject specialist teaching including carrying out one teaching observation for the mentee each year.  Additional requirements • Access to 50 paid teaching hours per year (however voluntary will be considered) • Completed application form (including evidence of qualifications) • Completed reference and support form and letter from employer • Current Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (This was previously known as a CRB check) • Attendance at an information/interview session in which a literacy initial assessment will be provided  Did you know that you can pay your tuition fees in installments?
