How is the programme taught?

The programme is taught by a mix of staff from academic and practice backgrounds. This enables BPP to provide you with an advanced knowledge of the academic and theoretical framework of these specialist areas as well as ensuring that what we teach is relevant to the needs of firms and chambers.

The focus of the programme is on self-study and research and learning in small groups with a one and a half hour seminar held in each module per week and a one hour whole group session every fortnight. This gives you the maximum opportunity to interact with and exchange ideas with both tutors and your colleagues on the programme.

Guest speaker programme

Our guest speaker programme is designed to give you as wide exposure as possible to the international commercial law environment and includes talks from a variety of eminent academics, commercial law practitioners, those involved in international business, commerce and the public sector.

Assessment

The method of assessment for each module will be made through a combination of:

  • memorandum of advice (30%)
  • written examinations (70%)

You must also submit a dissertation of 10,000 words on a subject related to commercial law. To help you succeed you will be supervised throughout this assignment by an academic and a practitioner from a relevant area of law.

You will receive feedback and advice on your work throughout the programme, to ensure that you make progress and achieve your goals.
