Management and Prevention of Pressure Ulcers for OTs and Physiotherapists
Purpose:
- Gain holistic understanding of pressure ulceration (including description, cause and prevention)
- To develop skills and knowledge in relation to cohesive MDT working
Learning Outcomes:
- Observation and appropriate documentation of wounds/pressure ulcers
- Understand intrinsic and exxtrinsic risk factors
- Prevention of pressure damage: the MDT role
- Holistic and practical management of pressure ulcers
Method:
- Seminar based, with interactive discussion and photographs
- Practical component re: products and pressure mapping technology
- Presentation of case studies
- The Course Facilitators are a Tissue Viability Nurse and an OT to demonstrate the Multi Disciplinary Team approach for this course
