Management and Prevention of Pressure Ulcers for OTs and Physiotherapists

Purpose:

  • Gain holistic understanding of pressure ulceration (including description, cause and prevention)
  • To develop skills and knowledge in relation to cohesive MDT working


Learning Outcomes:

  • Observation and appropriate documentation of wounds/pressure ulcers
  • Understand intrinsic and exxtrinsic risk factors
  • Prevention of pressure damage: the MDT role
  • Holistic and practical management of pressure ulcers

  • Seminar based, with interactive discussion and photographs
  • Practical component re: products and pressure mapping technology
  • Presentation of case studies
  • The Course Facilitators are a Tissue Viability Nurse and an OT to demonstrate the Multi Disciplinary Team approach for this course
