Course Content
- Fire Safety
- Health and Safety (1974 & 1999)
- Manual Handling Refresher including legislation, spinal anatomy, ergonomics, biomechanics, unsafe practices and small handling aids with information on principles of hoist training
- COSHH
- RIDDOR
- Infection Control – Including MRSA & Clostridium Difficile
- Adult Basic Life Support – in line with the UK Resuscitation Council Guidelines (HSE recognised)
- Basic Food Hygiene
- Lone Worker
- Handling Violence and Aggression
- Caldicott Protocols
- Risk Incident reporting
- Complaints Handling
Requirements
Candidates are required to have a reasonable degree of physical fitness to become involved in the practical element of the course – if any candidate has any known injuries this must be communicated prior to commencement of the course. All candidates are required to demonstrate competence at performing basic life support on the resus doll in order to qualify for certification in basic life support.
Refreshments
- Refreshments to be provided by the client.
Equipment Needed
- Handouts and workbooks will be provided.
- Candidates need to bring notepaper and pens with them.
Other Notes
This course is a mandatory requirement of the NHS PASA Frameworks and an annual update is necessary. This course does not cover paediatric or newborn basic life support training and Ace Care should be contacted if these elements are required PRIOR to the training day.
