Why should I come to Pendleton College?
At Pendleton College we have highly qualified and enthusiastic staff who will make the subject enjoyable, relevant and rewarding for students of all levels of ability. The emphasis is on student-centred learning and the course is delivered through the use of textbooks and materials developed by our own college staff.
What will I study?
The AS course comprises three units:
- Mathematics Pure Core 1
- Mathematics Pure Core 2
- Statistics 1
- Mathematics Pure Core 1
- Mathematics Pure Core 2
- Decision 1
What will I achieve?
A-Level Mathematics is undoubtedly one of the most valued and versatile qualifications available to 16-19 year old students. A good grade in this subject is a clear indication of your ability to work hard, think logically and solve problems. Many of our students go on to study Mathematics degrees at university but Mathematics A-Level is also particularly welcomed by Medical, Accounting and Law schools and of course by Engineering, Computing and Science departments.
How is the course assessed?
All units are assessed by examination papers. There is no coursework.
What else will I do?
During the course you will develop your algebraic and problem solving skills and we will enhance your knowledge of the business and IT worlds through the study of Statistics and Decision Mathematics. You will be encouraged to visit the University of Manchester to attend maths enrichment and revision sessions. There will be opportunities for you to learn how to use a graphical calculator.
