You will be expected to purchase your own blank DV tapes, DVDs, videos, etc. Some projects may carry a small cost for props, costumes etc. We will be offering voluntary educational trips though these are yet to be decided.
The Programme
The course is timetabled as equivalent to one A Level block and is intended to form part of a full time study. The programme consists of a range of units that will demonstrate a range of skills through a variety of practical assignments all concerned with video production. Students should expect to work outside college hours when necessary depending on the nature of the assignment.
The Programme Content
The course is equivalent to one A2 Level. It is a practical, work related course covering all aspects of the media and video production. On the course you will learn a range of production skills including scheduling and budgeting, camera use, lighting and editing with a range of digital software that will include the use of industry standard equipment.
The assessment takes place both internally and with the help of an external verifier. All skills must be demonstrated to a high level of competence and supporting evidence provided in an assignment file, along with your finished video production where applicable.
Progression / Careers
You may wish to use the qualification to study at a higher level or enter employment. This qualification is valuable for a range of careers in the media industry.
