Course ContentWho the course is for:
This level 1 course is aimed at first time welders, if you want to develop welding skills and gain a qualification through hands on tuition then this course is for you.
What you will study (options to be confirmed at entry):
Level 1 Unit Options:
Manuel Metal Arc (MMA) welding.
Oxy-Fuel (GAS) welding.
Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) Welding.
Metal Inert Gas (MIG) Welding.
How you will study:
You will follow a structured course using a number of processes which will enable you to choose one of the above options to complete various types of welding joint configurations in the chosen welding discipline. The course will also include tuition in safety and welding processes.
How you will be assessed:
Success is dependent on the student being able to produce practical test pieces to a British Standard and to pass an oral examination to test underpinning knowledge. Practical test pieces are visual inspected to ensure they meet the quality criteria. A unit is the smallest part of learning for which credit is awarded. Candidates can also gain credit for full qualifications.
