Students are normally entered for the Higher Tier examinations.
Duration:
One year
Do I need any additional qualifications/ skills?
You will need determination and commitment in order to succeed with these intensive GCSE courses. Good study skills and the ability to take responsibility for your own learning are essential.
How will I be assessed?
On GCSE Language courses you will be assessed through regular homework as well as progress tests and mock examinations. The final assessments are all by examination in the four language skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing).
What can I do afterwards?
A GCSE in a foreign language is a good qualification for work or leisure purposes, showing that you can communicate satisfactorily in everyday situations. A good grade at GCSE (A*-B) will enable you to take the language at AS, and often allows you to study the language as a subsidiary subject at university, thus gaining access to courses that offer a year abroad on the Erasmus scheme.
Are there any additional costs involved?
Students are expected to buy a good bilingual dictionary, the textbook (Mondial Espanol 1) and workbook.
