This course will suit those amongst you who have some knowledge of Modern Greek [equivalent to 2 terms]. Emphasis will be given to topics such as tourist information, publicity materials, finding your way, the family, shopping, travelling abroad by car and eating out. The main text used for this course will be 'Communicate in Greek' by Kleanthis and Froso Arvanitakis, units 11-16. All students.

Your Course
This course will suit those amongst you who have some knowledge of Modern Greek [equivalent to 2 terms]. Emphasis will be given to topics such as tourist information, publicity materials, finding your way, the family, shopping, travelling abroad by car and eating out.
The main text used for this course will be 'Communicate in Greek' by Kleanthis and Froso Arvanitakis, units 11-16. All students will be registered for the OCR Asset Language[Breakthrough] award in listening.The assessment will take place within a normal lesson.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course you will have been given the opportunity to:
· Communicate in the above topic areas
· Acquire the basic skills to interact with sympathetic speakers of the language in familiar situations
· Use the vocabulary and structures learnt in the course to understand written information on familiar topics
· Be able to produce adequate responses to the information
Your Tutor
Nicolas Voliotis holds a BA in Ancient and Modern Greek Literature and a BA in History/Archaeology from the University of Athens. He was also awarded an MA and a PhD in Education from the University of Sheffield. He taught Modern Greek Literature in Greece for twenty years and has been teaching Modern Greek Literature and language to GCSE and A level in England for several years. He has also taught Modern Greek at Cambridge University.
Day and time: Tuesday 7-9 pm

Tuition fees: £100
Method of payment: Fees for short courses (10 weeks or less) to be paid in full at enrolment and for long courses (12 weeks or more) fees of 50% can be paid at enrolment plus 50% as a cheque. Course places cannot be reserved without receipt of both payments.

Please note that there are no classes during half term Monday 15th - Friday 19th February 2010 unless otherwise stated.
