About this course

The normal entry requirement for the National Diploma is either BTEC First Diploma or equivalent or four GCSEs at grade C or above. However, mature students can be admitted without these, subject to the colleges discretion.

Course Level Three

Description
The National Diploma is an internationally recognised qualification in motor vehicle engineering, which will prepare you to enter a career in the motor industry or progress into higher education. You will develop your knowledge and understanding of how vehicle systems operate and how to apply this knowledge in the workshop.

Course Length
Two years (full-time)

What will I study?
A variety of topics covering motor vehicle technology and principles will be taught these include engine systems, transmission and in some cases welding to meet the needs of the modern workshop. You will also learn functional skills which are English, Maths and ICT as required.



How will I learn?
You will learn in state-of-the-art workshops fully fitted to the highest industrial standards and hi-tech classrooms with Smartboards and interactive diagnostic equipment.

How will I be assessed?
The course is continually assessed by assignments and unit assessments.

Where could it lead?
You could progress to a BTEC Higher National Certificate/ Diploma in Motor Vehicle Engineering, gain employment or progress to other work based training in motor vehicle dealerships with skills to progress to Master Technician.
