What's it all about?:
Back problems account for a third all of worker absence in the UK so it makes sense to learn how to perform moving and handling techniques without causing a hazard to yourself or other people. Our course is designed to give you the theoretical and practical skills for safer moving and handling. It will delve into manual handling, the risks involved and controls available so you can look carefully at your own work activities to keep yourself and others safe.

Progression:
The certificate provides an opportunity to gain increased knowledge and skills in safer moving and handling techniques to ensure best practice in the work place.

There are no specific entry requirements.

What does the course involve?:

Topics will include:

-legislation relating to moving and handling

-the spine and its vulnerability to injury

-ergonomic approach

-risk assessment

-principles of safe moving and handling.

When can I study?:
Various days, 9.00am - 1.00pm or 1.00pm - 5.00pm

Are there any exams?:
Continuous assessment of practical skills and a multiple choice question paper.
