This one year, level 2 course that will enable you to gain an introduction to the music industry and will allow you to progress to the next level, which is usually a Level 3 Diploma. It is an intensive course covering a range of areas and will diagnose which suits you best, whether it is performance or technology.

You will work on individual workstations enabling audio and MIDI sequencing as well as important introductory music theory elements and have an opportunity to work in our recording studios. Your project areas include: Recording, MIDI, Sequencing, Composition, Performance and Music Theory. You will also be introduced to event management, lighting and other areas related to the industry.

About this course

You will be required to have gained at least 1 GCSE at Grade C or above and 2 GCSEs at grade D. You will also be required to attend an audition/interview where you will be expected to demonstrate your passion for the world of music with wide-ranging evidence of different styles and genres.

Course programme

The course is made up of 6 units over a one year period and is modular based so a variety of assessment methods are used including Portfolios, Presentations and Essays.

Core modules on the course include Music Business and Planning & Creating a Musical Product.

This practical work is supported by a comprehensive introduction to the contextual and theoretical studies which underpin a thorough understanding of the Music industries. There will be a series of supportive lectures and you will do written work that will help you to improve your writing and communication skills.
