What will I study?

The course consists of small chunks of learning grouped into 3 blocks of 4 units to allow you to achieve at short intervals during the course. You will achieve certification after completion of:

  • BLOCK 1: NATIONAL FIRST AWARD To achieve the OCR National First Award in Health and Social Care, you are required to achieve four mandatory units (i.e. units you must do)
  • BLOCK 2 NATIONAL AWARD To achieve the OCR National Award in Health and Social Care, you need to achieve eight units, five mandatory units and three optional units.
  • BLOCK 3 NATIONAL CERTIFICATE To achieve the OCR National Certificate in Health and Social Care, you need to achieve twelve units, six mandatory units and six optional units.


If you leave the course without achieving the full twelve unit certificate but achieve the four or eight unit award, you will still achieve a meaningful qualification that you can use to help you gain employment or go on to further education.
