The role of Native North American women in history and culture. Largely dismissed as secondary figures in NorthAmerican history, the course will reveal the significant place that women had in historical and political affairs bothinternally and in diplomacy.

Course programme

Major Native North American figures, Native American Indian women in war, the traditional role of women in indigenous political decision-making, the place women currently have in history and political affairs.


The class will be delivered through a presentation, accompanied by PowerPoint slides. We will use a
variety maps, images, video and text throughout the sessions.
A list of recommended reading material and recommended films will be provided, but this is optional.
Please bring pen and paper.
