Entry requirements: To enrol on the course you will require 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above including Maths, English and Science. You may also hold a level 2 in the subject with a minimum of a Merit and level 1 Functional skills Pass. A successful reference and a clear DBS (disclosure barring check) will be required.

Overview of the course:

This course is designed to help you develop knowledge, understanding and skills relevant to the care sector. The Certificate is the first year of study for level 3 when successfully completed you will then enrol on the full Extended Diploma for your second year.


Topics:

Developing effective communication, equality, diversity and rights in health and social care, health safety and security in health and social care, development through the life stages, sociological perspectives and safeguarding adults are some of the units that may be covered in the qualification. You will also attend work placement for a minimum of one day per week.

Further study options after this course:
Once you have successfully completed the qualification gaining a grade C or above you can progress onto the Cache Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care. Or you may alternatively consider a route into childcare and enrol on Cache Certificate in Childcare and Education.
