About this course

Students should have completed the Level 1 Jewellery Making qualification or have some previous experience in small-scale metal, sawing, soldering, finishing and workshop health and safety.

Course programme

This 30-week course is designed for students who wish to expand on their beginner metal jewellery skills. The course will help students enhance their current skills and introduce them to new techniques and processes.
Students will be able to develop their own project work, designing and creating their own individual Jewellery pieces.
Basic tools will be available, but students may wish to purchase their own tools as they develop their skills. Non-precious metals are provided for student's use, although students will be responsible for funding their own silver if required
Entry RequirementsStudents should have completed the Level 1 Jewellery Making qualification or have some previous experience in small-scale metal, sawing, soldering, finishing and workshop health and safety.
Course Content
Throughout the 30 weeks, students will produce project work practicing and improving existing skills, but also developing in areas or techniques they have not yet investigated.
These skills will include:·Texturing·Forming·Stone setting·Polishing
How will I be assessed?
Students will be assessed throughout the course on their designing, production of jewellery work and health and safety knowledge.
Students will work towards gaining units by producing personally designed jewellery to meet a specified brief.
What can I do next?
The course is appropriate for aspiring jewellers or hobbyists who wish to improve on their skills. The course will provide an extension of skills and knowledge for students who wish to study this area on a higher level or to develop further skills for vocational reasons.
