Course summary:
This programme aims to help learners to protect themselves and work colleagues by examining violence in the workplace and how to take practical steps to prevent or minimise its incidence and impact. It adopts a preventative approach to violence utilising awareness and calming techniques without resort to self defence or personal contact.
This course explains the circumstances in which aggression and violence can occur and emphasises the importance of communication in the preventative approach to conflict management. It goes onto highlight the law in tems of the individual and the organisation and is therefore suitable for anyone, whether it be a learner in the workplace or at home.
Course content:
The course consists of two units covering:-
* Conflict management in context
* Conflict management and the law
Course structure:
Candidates work through the distance-learning course materials at their own pace, and at times convenient to them - so there is no need to attend college to gain the qualification.
Candidates will be provided with course materials for the programme. The learning materials contain the knowledge needed to meet the assessment requirements of the course and activities to allow candidates to practise their skills and test their learning.
Tutor Support
You will have access to a tutor who will support you throughout the programme. Your tutor will agree a schedule of work with you that suit your particular circumstances.
Typically the programme can be completed in
12-20
weeks. You will be entitled to receive a minimum of
4.5
hours of 1:1 support throughout the programme. You will be able to contact your tutor and/or the college for help, support and guidance at any stage of the course. Your tutor will provide you with detailed feedback on your work.
Assessment procedure:
Candidates work through the learning materials and complete assesssment for the unit. Learning activities and assessments are based on a combination of knowledge and skills learned on the programme and work-based activities and experience. On successful completion of both units you will be awarded a certificate.
Qualifications achieved:
The award is accredited by a nationally recognised awarding body - NCFE.
Progression opportunities:
The qualifications aims to provide a sound preparation for further study and access to a range of vocational programmes, including NVQ's. The specific progression route will depend on the vocational choice of the individual. In addition more general routes are also appropriate, for example, Equality & Diversity or Health & Safety.
