About this course

It is recommended that candidates new to health and safety, especially the law aspects, undertake the one day Foundation Certificate in Health and Safety course or the IOSH 4 day Managing Safely course, prior to sitting the NEBOSH Certificate.

Description

The course provides valuable underpinning core knowledge for NVQ Level 3 and is seen by many employers as an essential and important base level qualification in Health and Safety.
Course objectives/key benefits:
On completion, delegates will be able to:
o Identify the common and obvious hazards in a workplace and to recommend remedial actions
o Investigate accidents (including near misses) and make logical, cost-effective recommendations to prevent reoccurrence
o Identify the main items of Health and Safety legislation that apply to workplaces, including recent regulations and EC Directives
o Recognise the human and organisational problems that must be overcome to achieve a safe and healthy environment
o Use information sources to advise managers on safety matters

Training method:
Workshop and assessment.
The assessment consists of 2 x two-hour exam papers taken on the last day of the course and a Safety Inspection Report, which must be completed within seven days of the last day of the course and is undertaken at the candidate's workplace.
Delegates will be required to undertake a certain amount of directed reading and exercises during the evenings. This private study could be pre-course, during the course, or in the week between the course weeks.

NEBOSH National General Certificate.
