New Directions
This Level 1 or 2 course is designed to help students develop skills for future study or employment. It is suitable for students progressing from the Foundation Studies Entry Level Course, an alternative to E2E courses and a more practical choice than Springboard/GCSEs.

What does the course involve?
Students attending this course will be able to choose activities from modules to demonstrate a range of personal, employability and key skills. Through group work or individual activities, students will be able to enjoy a variety of subjects which enable them to build on their own existing strengths. Students will have the opportunity to use and extend their interests and skills and to try new activities and experiences.

The level of choice available makes the course extremely flexible and meets the needs of those students wishing to have more control over their learning; this flexibility means that the course may be combined with other study areas. A portfolio of evidence is compiled as activities are completed, demonstrating students' achievements.

What will I study?
Modules can be chosen from the following: Communication, Community and Citizenship, Sport and Leisure, Independent Living, the Environment, Vocational Preparation, Health and Fitness, Work Related Learning and Enterprise, Science and Technology, International Links, Expressive Arts, Beliefs and Ethics, Catering, Business Administration and Land-based industry.

Will I get any help with the portfolio?
Yes, there is additional support in class to help students with their assignments.

Are there any exams?
No, but students are continuously assessed and build up a portfolio of evidence and will need to complete unit paperwork to the required standard.

Will I get any work experience?
Yes, students are given the opportunity to have a placement when their tutor feels it is appropriate. Work experience takes place both on site and in and around Cirencester. Some students are able to undertake part-time employment while on this course.
