Course programme
Course detail Description
This MSc is designed to give you the knowledge you need to begin a rewarding career as an adult nurse, whatever your background. But you’ll need to have some healthcare related experience to join us.
Half of your time will be spent gaining practical experience on placements. The other half will be learning from our experts to understand theoretical areas, including care delivery, research principles and clinical leadership.
LocationA lot of your time will be spent on placements at hospitals around London. We’ll cover the theory side of your work with lectures and seminars at King’s too. Teaching happens at our campuses, including:
- Guy’s
- Waterloo
- Denmark Hill
- St Thomas’
The overall aims of the programme are to enable graduates to acquire advanced understanding, knowledge and skills in nursing in order that they may deliver, develop, lead and research healthcare practice. In addition, the programme aims to ensure that nurses who graduate are skilled, competent and compassionate professionals who have satisfied the academic and clinical requirements and standards stipulated in the NMC standards of proficiency and the academic requirements of King's College London for the award of a Masters degree.
Course format and assessmentTeaching
Working as a nurse, your role will be hands-on, but you’ll also rely on your knowledge to make decisions. Whether you’re listening to a guest lecturer or testing your skills in a clinical skills workshop, our teaching team do everything they can to help you link theory and practice.
So we use simulations to give you plenty of practice. This might involve perfecting a new skill or working as a team with medical students to treat a deteriorating patient.
AssessmentThe way we assess your learning will vary. But it’ll be mix of exams, clinical portfolio work, essays, presentations and a supervised dissertation.
Extra informationPlease Note: The MSc with Registration courses have now replaced the PG Dip with Registration that were discontinued for 2019 entry.
